Piping Rock Golf Club
A prestigious golf club dating back to the early 1900s, Piping Rock only welcomes its enrolled members onto the green. Those without memberships must arrive with a sponsor, but once at the club, they can take advantage of an extensive driving range and course famed for its Knoll-inspired 13th hole. Former players at the club include Jackie Onassis and Cole Porter.
Tallgrass Golf Course
This Shoreham-based course is famously designed after traditional Scottish golfing greens, complete with pot bunkers and tall grass lining the sides. Spanning a distance of 6,500 yards from start to finish, Tallgrass is a standard 71-par green. This course opened in 2000 and has since attracted both recreational and professional golfers.
Bethpage State Park Golf
Located in Farmingdale, this spot has been home to five separate 18-hole golf courses since the late 1950s. Perhaps the most challenging course is the Black Course, which served as the home of the U.S. State Open in 2002 and again in 2009. All five courses have proven their popularity, with more than 300,000 rounds of golf played at the club each year.
